bichectomy

Bichectomy is a surgical procedure that aims to remove the Bichat bags, which are fat deposits in the cheeks.

Submandibular or submentonian liposuction is popularly known as jowl liposuction.

It takes an average of 1 hour and the patient is discharged home the same day.

If associated with orthognathic surgery or chin augmentation: general anesthesia + average hospital stay of 1 night.

CLINICAL CASE

I carried out a mentoplasty as an aesthetic refinement because the patient had a very straight hard chin morphology which, even after the anti-clockwise rotation induced by the correction of the occlusal plane, still required greater chin projection.
Note that the reduction in facial height promoted better positioning of the soft tissues, improving facial appearance.
